Keeping Peace.

I create art to work through life, to find answers to questions - sometimes questions I didn’t know I had. I share the work to see if anyone sees what I see, or to learn the new things from what they see, and I do not.

So when I shared this piece, I was searching for what I was missing, hoping someone could do the work for me. I saw the dove, and the symbol of peace was immediate, but I knew there was more. There was something I didn’t know/see yet. With time, the rest of the story did unfold.

I am a peace keeper, or seeker, by nature or by childhood- in work, in family, etc.. It now occurred to me that, not just a pretty notion, peace IS the white winged dove. It is something beautiful to hold, but something dies when you try to ‘keep’ it. As with the bird, you must ‘let go’ for true flight, freedom, and growth. You cannot KEEP PEACE- it is only to be experienced through grace. Maybe, when the struggle to keep it ends, peace will belong to us all.

While I once felt ‘peace keeping’ was always my job, I’m letting it go now.
